The History of Spartan Stadium
College Field now known as Spartan Stadium opened in 1923 in East Lansing, Michigan. The stadium had a seating capacity of 14,000. The original name, College Field, was used until 1935 when the stadium was changed to Macklin Field. It was known as Macklin Stadium until 1958. Spartan Stadium now has holds 75,005 fans and is the tallest building in East Lansing. Michigan State University's football team won 19 straight home games between 1950-1953.
